Developing the Talent Value Proposition for CCW

Consumer Council for Water (CCW) is an independent organisation that advocates for water consumers in England and Wales. Since 2005, they have helped thousands of consumers resolve complaints against their water company while providing free advice and support.

In 2022, CCW partnered with Greenbean to recruit highly qualified and motivated staff to expand their workforce across two sites in Birmingham and Wales (c70 FTE).

Scope

  • Form a close working relationship to understand and develop their talent value proposition and brand identity and promote externally to attract a diverse range of talent across all business streams, from volume consumer champions to senior hires and directorates.

  • To design an end-to-end recruitment process that ensured a positive and consistent candidate journey regardless of the role applied for.

  • MI reporting on each step of the recruitment process, including equal opportunities monitoring.

  • As part of the forward work programme, refresh and align recruitment policies and job descriptions from HR and all directorates.

Solution

Greenbean provided a collaborative recruitment partnership led by an experienced account lead who managed the day-to-day relationship with business stakeholders underpinned by a team of experts. Following an in-depth on-site discovery period, we worked with all stakeholders to understand the culture, values, and purpose of the business, and design the entire candidate journey including:

  • Role profiling – what behaviours to look for in potential candidates

  • Response management - sift and pre-screening- ensuring candidate experience is second to none

  • Online skills testing

  • Video Interviewing

  • Virtual Assessment Events – design, facilitation, and calibration

  • Offer Management

  • Pre-employment screening

  • Candidate engagement – design, management, and facilitation of virtual onboarding and engagement sessions

  • Inclusive recruitment practices

  • Equal opportunities monitoring process established

  • MI reporting to provide opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Recruitment marketing – in-house recruitment marketing team created create a multi-channel attraction campaign to include a client landing page, job boards, and social media

Results

The revised recruitment process was implemented in 2022 and successfully delivered a consistent candidate journey across all business streams measured by MI data reporting each stage of the entire process and feedback on candidate experience. Over a 9-month period Greenbean partnered with CCW to recruit 20 Consumer Relations Advisors and several Senior to Directorate hires including:

  • Service Excellence Manager

  • Customer Relations Manager

  • HR Manager

  • Policy Manager

  • Research Manager

  • Head of IT

  • Director of Communications

  • Director of Consumer Relations
